Oakpit Catering

Oakpit Catering serves fresh-ingredient BBQ, tri-tip, chicken, pork, prepared with locally sourced ingredients for weddings, corporate events, and social gatherings across California's Central Coast. Despite consistently high ratings from clients, their online presence did not reflect the quality of their food or service.

According to a BrightLocal survey, 98% of consumers read online reviews for local businesses, and 86% of people look up a business on Google Maps before visiting. Oakpit's previous web presence lacked mobile optimization, offered no structured menu presentation, and had no clear path for visitors to request a quote, resulting in missed revenue from local search traffic.

The catering industry is competitive: over 12,000 catering businesses operate in California alone (IBISWorld, 2024). Standing out in local search for "BBQ catering Atascadero" and "catering Central Coast" required a site built from the ground up for speed, mobile usability, and search visibility.

I built the site on a JAMStack architecture using pre-built static assets, which eliminates server-side vulnerabilities and delivers content through a global CDN. Google's own research confirms that page load time increases bounce rates by 32% when it goes from 1 to 3 seconds, every millisecond counts for a catering business competing for local attention.

The site architecture was designed around three conversion paths: menu discovery (visitors browsing appetizers, entrees, and desserts), event type (weddings, corporate, social), and direct quote requests. Each path funnels visitors toward a clear call-to-action, a contact form and phone number prominently displayed on every page.

Content was structured using a headless CMS, giving the Oakpit team the ability to update menus, add blog posts about seasonal offerings, and manage event galleries without developer intervention. A content management system optimized for speed and publisher workflows, making it a natural fit for a business whose menus change seasonally.
